A work at home job is another option for those who are jobless at the present moment in time; I have started to work from home myself as the jobs situation in The north of England became increasingly worse over the last few years. I use to managed my very own building enterprise in Liverpool but with current government cut backs and the economic recession the call for building jobs in Liverpool has fallen a great deal. Quite a lot of self-employed builders in The north of England are in the same boat and are struggling to make a living today; things are really bleak in the construction industry.
As a realistic option and as something to do in my spare time I decided to have a go at web marketing. This may seem a little overwhelming to anyone planning such a venture for the first time but it is not as hard as it seems, when you wade through the mass of twaddle and conflicting information that there is circulating on the net right now.
I sat around at home waiting for the phone to ring for a few weeks so I decided to set up a simple Internet site and put a couple of Google AdSense ads on the website to to see if i could make some extra revenue. The project is a jobs blog that incorporates lots of useful posts on the topic of employment and careers. The site is aimed at the jobs in Liverpool market as I reckoned it would be quite a high traffic area of interest to go into as there is a lot of demand for jobs given the recent recession.
You may think that designing a web site takes a lot of technical skill but it is surprisingly straight forward. My site is set up on Wordpress which is the simplest yet one of the most powerful web/blog design software programmes out there. Wordpress is totally free as well and the only thing that you need to buy is your domain name which you can buy for less than £10. The difficult part of the project is promoting the site, this takes time and effort and there are no easy ways around the problem. The best way to do this is to write and submit articles and include a hyperlink back to your site either in the article or in the authors signature box. This is not a get rich quick scheme i would like to add but it can earn you a bit of extra revenue, up to now my jobs site has made about £500 over the last few months and with a small amount of more work it should make a great deal more. It may not be super money but when the cheque comes through your front door it comes in very handy.
