A good CV is an absolute must when it comes to finding a new career, the first thing that your employer will see is your CV so its important that it makes an impression when it lands in the in box. Your CV is like a sales letter that is selling a product and the product is you, your skills qualifications and experience, it’s its the first hurdle in front of you and your new job. If your CV does not make an impact then your dead in the water and you can kiss your hopes of an interview goodbye.

There are countless resources available to help you write a good CV, some paid and some are for free. The local job centre will gladly help you put a CV together for free if you pay them a visit; you can also use a ready made CV template. There are thousands of CV templates available on numerous websites some paid and some for free. Microsoft word has a number of CV templates that are customizable so you can tailor the CV to your own needs.

The content of your CV is also massively important and is the key to making it to the interview stage. The employer wants to see the ideal candidate for the position that they offer, so you CV will have to be tailored to suit the job vacancy that is on offer. By no means fill your CV with a load untruths and inaccurate information it just means a little fine tuning may be required for all the different positions that you apply for, remember you have to meet there criteria.

You CV should be clear, precise and to the point, make sure it details all your previous experience, your academic achievement's and a section about yourself again there is a ton of information circulating on various web sites on the Internet on how to lay your CV out and what type of content to include so a little research could pay dividends. Here’s another tip that I picked up from a a friend of mine who was advertising for a position, he had received a number of applications for the position on offer but the ones that had arrived in the post in a brown envelope went in to the bin with out even getting opened. I don’t know if this was just an occurrence with this particular person or firm or could this be a standard practice across the industry, but to be on the safe side use a white envelope. There are not many jobs in Liverpool and across the country right now every angle of your job search should be covered, remember it’s a buyer’s market in favour of the employer. Even if you are applying for part time jobs in Liverpool and the job isn't really skilled still make the effort as there probably will be scores of applicants for the role.
